Taking Charge Of The Day
For the first 50 years of life my morning routine was basic and bohemian. I would get out of bed with just enough time to shower, dress and head to school or work. I have never been a morning person and living in the studio for 20 years with many late night projects set me firmly in the "Night Owl" category. When Cindy and I began our relationship in January of 2014, one of the things I admired about her was her constant habit of spending time with the Lord every morning. Coffee and the Word. I was challenged to alter my lifestyle and see if it would make a difference.
It did.
My days began to be more efficient, I was getting more done in less time. Stress levels began to decline (I don't stress much anyway) and I noticed other improvements to my life. Part of the new morning routine was going over my calendar. This helped me prepare better and organize. The best improvement was my walk with the Lord. Relationships work better when we make them a priority. I was created to fellowship with God. He actually cares about how I feel, what I'm going through and what I need. Since I have begun this habit of consistent time WITH him in the morning I am closer to him. The people around me noticed the difference too.
So I encourage you to try it. You have nothing to lose! Oh and of course there is the morning coffee to enjoy!
